Mark your calendars for December 5th – the annual Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony is quickly approaching. The free event will be at Lions Park, next to Plainfield Town Hall at 8 Community Avenue in Plainfield, CT. In the case of bad weather, the event moves inside the Town Hall. Download a pdf of the flyer here. Wonderland at Lions Park will be there with a craft of some kind to keep the kiddos busy while they’re in line. Bring your cameras, these photos will be priceless.
The official word is that Pride in Plainfield goes on tomorrow, rain or shine. The forecast for Sunday is worse, so postponement isn’t an option. Bring your umbrellas, folks. We’re hoping for the best weather but we will be there. The PBA members are on the field today working hard to get things set up.
See you at Lions Park, 8 Community Avenue, Plainfield, tomorrow, August 2nd, from 10-5.

We had a huge turnout for the Job Fair last Thursday. Thank you so much to all participants and supporters. Both employers and job seekers report success. Horsebrook Cafe hired several people, with at least one having already started work. One other employer present at last night’s PBA meeting reported receiving 60 applications and another reported several very highly qualified applicants that might never have been found through other methods.
Speaking of last night’s meeting – did you miss it? Meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month, at Jewett City Savings Bank in Central Village. We’d love for you to drop in, whether you’re a local resident or a business owner. To make sure you get reminders of meeting and other PBA events, we’ve created an email list. Sign up over on the right. We’d love to keep you informed about what’s going on with the PBA.
We’re down to the wire now, but there’s still time for potential employers to register. There is no charge to businesses or job seekers. Call Cathy Tendrich at 860-564-5581 or Kevin Trahan at 860-564-3383.
